Facebook Profile Page is Now a Timeline!

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has revealed the company’s much anticipated and awaited change of profile pages, transforming your profile into a virtual life tree or you can say into an open scrap that has the  updates about your past.

At the company’s f8 developer conference in San Francisco, Zuckerberg laid light on Facebook’s vision for the future of detailed profiles. He described the history of the Facebook profiles right from the day when it was Called Thefacebook in 2006 and how it has been taking in all the information about you and sharing it with your Friends on Facebook but it has been impossible to sharing what you have done in the Past. Now Facebook Timeline is his idea of making this Job as easy as it can be.

“We’re more than what we did recently,” Zuckerberg explained to the audience.

This Moment was chosen to Reveal “Timeline” which is the revamped version of the Facebook Profiles. It is basically a way to expose what you do , have done and what have been doing in the past and present. The design is completely altered to make the Visual History Experience Easy from the Day you were born to Today.

Facebook will automatically add your pictures, status updates and life events such being in a relationship, check-ins etc. from your already existing Facebook history to your timeline. Some areas which are empty can be filled by going to the “Wayback” Section. In his demo, Zuckerberg showed how to add a baby picture to the beginning of your timeline.

“It’s fun and easy to fill out your timeline,” Zuckerberg said.

One of the interesting additions to the new profile is “Map” feature that lets you and friends see where you’ve been, The Facebook Places seems like a Good Idea now doesn’t it ?. It also tracks your travel in the present. You can even mark your place of birth and the Current Town. But this is not it, the most exciting and exclusive feature is the “Cover Photo”, which displays a huge widescreen image at the top of the new profile page.

Timeline’s purpose is to revive all the content you have created on Facebook. The problem was simple: once a status updates leaves your profile, you are unlikely to ever see it again. Zuckerberg and the Facebook team want to make Facebook a place to express what you are, who you are while discovering and exploring who your friends are at the same time.
