Murder Two : Sequal of Murder [Movie Review]

Edited By: on July 12, 2011

Murder 2 Movie ReviewMurder 2 is an erotic thriller set in Goa, starring Emraan Hashmi, Jacqueline Fernandes and Prashant Narayanan. It is a sequel to the 2004-hit,Murder. The Murder tag makes the movie seem synonymous with sleaze but in reality it has much more to offer this time. It has a strong story (directly lifted from The Chaser, a Korean action film) and is darker and more erotic than the original.

Emraan Hashmi plays the role of Arjun Bhagwat, an ex-cop who has a hand in every criminal-pie in Goa but still has a conscience. He is in a confused relationship with Priya (Jacqueline Fernandes). In his undying quest to make money, he meets Sameer, a pimp who is facing a tough time because of the mysterious disappearance of his hookers. Sameer offers him a huge amount to locate the missing girls. His search leads him to Dheeraj Pandey (Prashant Narayanan), a deranged artist who derives sadistic pleasure in killing and dismembering humans. The story unfolds dramatically from here on.

In the initial 15-20 minutes of the movie, Jacqueline steams up the screen by playing seductress with aplomb and exposing her flawless skin to the hilt. Unfortunately, she is unable to stretch that skin to produce any other expressions! The first half of the movie is well paced and keeps you gripped. The second half is a bit slow and boring. You’ll have enough time to relish your popcorn!

Emraan Hashmi was his usual best but Prashant Narayanan clearly steals the show with his bad-ass act.  He makes up for the shoddy script-writing and makes the movie watchable. This movie clearly belongs to him! The excellent cinematography of the movie makes it a visual treat.

Overall, the movie is a good watch if you appreciate quality cinema and don’t mind violence.
